Miami Girls Trip

Back before I got married, my friends and I spun off a work trip into a girls trip to Miami in March 2018. One of the benefits of having your friends travel for work!

Miami To Do:
Pelican Hotel | Bodega Taqueria y Tequila | Mango’s | Wet Willie’s | Ocean Drive | South Beach

Miriam and I flew from Toronto after work and met Monika in Fort Lauderdale. We caught up and enjoyed some last call mojitos by the pool before heading to the room where we popped a bottle of wine.

We got up for breakfast by the pool and headed to the beach in Fort Lauderdale.
“Do I need pants?”
“Nah, we’re going to the beach.”
So I walked down the street in Fort Lauderdale with bikini bottoms on only. The beach really wasn’t that close to our hotel!

We had a mini photoshoot on the beach and my new Samsung phone became the designated camera for the weekend. I was so happy I got this phone before the trip!

We grabbed an Uber to Sawgrass Mills for some shopping, making it a point to find swimsuits everyone loved at ADG swimwear and then we hit happy hour from some tostones and a mojito.

After getting an Uber down to Miami and settled at the hotel, we started to get prepped for the night out.
The waiter was hysterical – from New Jersey – and kind of set the tone for the night. Unfortunately our promoter was a total loser, but we made it work!

I couldn’t believe the price of drinks at the bar and it was decided that we wouldn’t be paying for drinks that night. Rather than staying at the shitty club, we went over Bodega Taqueria y Tequila where we had a blast on the top floor with a group of firefighters who took pity on our disgust at the price of drinks. Apparently, firefighters get primo treatment- I tried to hook Leigh up with a job there. Really though, we should move to Miami.

It was a fairly early night because we wanted to spend some time at the beach the next day and head to the Pelican Hotel for breakfast and GIANT mojitos – now this is my kind of party. We watched some old guys drive up and down Ocean Drive in their expensive cars, sweating and looking absolutely unappealing, but still, they WILL find someone to join them in the car. We also saw a guy climb a palm tree and do sit ups?

It was definitely a fun day. We found another group of girls and went to the beach and then to Wet Willy’s – all alcohol slushies all the time. It wasn’t pretty, but I got the girls back to the hotel to change before we came back downtown for Mango’s Tropical Cafe.

Mango’s was amaaazinggg…

It was a blast and I can’t believe all of our adventures were only over a weekend.

Oh and apparently, I got a virus on the plane that causes anaphylactic shock and blew up my eye. FUN!
