These Probiotics Changed My Life

I can’t count the number of times I have recommended probiotics to friends and family because of the potentially life changing benefits they can offer. I began taking a probiotic because of a gluten sensitivity 4 years ago. Since then I’ve found relief from my gastrointestinal issues when I eat gluten and I’ve also found another added benefit.

Like many other women my age I used to have issues with iron deficiency despite eating red meat, leafy greens and legumes. Since going vegan, I thought that the issue would only get worse, but I have learned from a recent endocrinologist appointment that my iron levels are excellent and my body has very low inflammation and it may be because of the probiotics I take.

From my personal experience that led me to seek help from an endocrinologist I can’t believe that I suffered for as long as I did when there was a simple pill to help me. They truly changed my life!

What are probiotics?

In short, probiotics are a dietary supplement that contain good bacteria that can help with gastrointestinal issues and to strengthen the immune system by replenishing the bacteria in the gut that helps to digest food, fight bad bacteria and balance the immune system. The main reason many people take a probiotic is because of gastrointestinal issues such as gas, bloating and constipation.

Which probiotics do I take?

After receiving a tip from my friend who is a dietician about two types of bacteria that may aid in gluten sensitivities, I went searching for a probiotic that contained those bacteria she advised.

I found these probiotics from Amazon, Probiotics from Botanica Research – 60 Oral Flora Capsules for Daily Use. While there are six types of bacteria in the probiotics from Botanica Research, the key players for gluten sensitivity and iron absorption are:

Bifidobacterium longum
B. Longum can potentially help with the composition of the gut microbiome to ward off the immune response when someone with celiac or a sensitivity to gluten ingests gluten. This is helpful as long as gluten does not cause damage to your intestines so be cautious if you have celiac as it has not been proven to stop the damage gluten can cause. However, if you have a sensitivity this bacteria will potentially help you from feeling ill after eating gluten. (source)

Bifidobacterium breve
Much like B. Longum, B. breve may also be helpful for gluten sensitivity. It is also attributed to reduce inflammation in the intestine and one of the bacteria that is beneficial in creating a healthy gut microbiome. (source)

Lactobacillus plantarum
L. plantarum is the bacteria that has potential to help iron absorption especially in younger females. (source)

The best news is that these probiotics are very affordable and they are available with Amazon Prime so you can get them tomorrow!

You can also try them risk free for 30 days so what are you waiting for? They could be life changing for you too!
